Chettinad Paneer Varuval

Chettinad-style varuval is hot, tangy and delectable.A dry version of curry is termed as “varuval” in Tamil. Create this recipe with paneer, tofu, chicken, potatoes or any other base of your choice for the perfect side dish with parathas, dosas, or even curry and rice!

Ingredients

200g pack of Bhuna Pisa Chatpata Chettinad paste

  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 3-4 Curry Leaves
  • 2 Onions sliced
  • 400 grams Paneer or Boneless Chicken
  • Coriander Leaves chopped or Coconut freshly grated for garnish

Serves: 4 | Cooking Time: 15-20 Minutes



Steps

  • 1 Heat oil in a frying pan. Add curry leaves and sliced onions. Fry till onions are golden.
  • 2 Add paneer or chicken cubes and stir fry on medium flame for 5 minutes, until the colour changes.
  • 3 Add Bhuna Pisa Chatpata Chettinad paste and 3-4 tablespoons of water. Cover the frying pan and let it cook for 5-7 minutes until the paneer/chicken is fully cooked and the masala blends perfectly with the cubes.
  • 4 Open the pan, add salt to taste and mix well.
  • 5 Garnish with chopped coriander leaves or freshly grated coconut and serve hot with paratha, roti or as a side dish with any meal.
